Detained leader of the now proscribed IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has sacked his legal team headed by Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN).
He also also announced his decision to conduct the proceedings by himself as he expresses readiness to open his defence in the seven-count terrorism-related charge filled against him by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
At the resumed proceeding of his trial before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, Kanu, announced his decision to handle the case by himself.
Consequently, members of his legal team, led by a former Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, withdrew from the case.
Kanu, while defending himself, challenged the jurisdiction of the court to try him on the seven-count terrorism-related charge the Federal Government filed against him.
He had earlier filed an application for the court to summon several individuals, including Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state, Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Ministers of the FCT and that of Works, Nyesom Wike and Dave Umahi, respectively; the former governor of Abia state, Okezie Ikpeazu, as well as former security chiefs, to appear as witnesses in the trial.
FG has since closed its case with the evidence of five witnesses who were mostly security operatives.
The court gave Kanu six days to present his defence, a period he said should be extended to 90 days.
