Exactly 994 days after the demise of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, the government of Oyo State has announced Canada-based real estate mogul Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the new Alaafin.
The state’s commissioner for information and orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, in a statement, confirmed that Prince Owoade, after thorough consultations and divinations, has been recommended by the Oyomesi and approved by the governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
According to Oyelade, the announcement has put to rest all the socio-legal bickerings that have ensued since the demise of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, on April 22, 2022.
“A statement to this effect has been issued by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ademola Ojo, who said that the announcement has put to rest all the socio-legal bickerings that have ensued since the demise of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, on April 22, 2022,” Oyelade said.
Prince Owoade, a real estate investor and project controller at a Canadian government institution, is the president of 100279 Manitoba Limited, a real estate investment and financial services business in Manitoba, Canada.
Born 47 years ago into a prominent and royal family of Owoade-Agunloye in Oyo town, the new Alaafin is one of the surviving children of Pa Rasaki Ibiyosi.
